Steven James Doocy popularly known as Steve Doocy was born on October 19, 1956, in Algona, Lowa, US. His parents are Joanne and James Edward Doocy. His dad James was a builder and a salesman.
Steve was raised with his siblings sisters Cathy Curtis, Jenny Doocy, Ann Walker, and Lisa Doocy.
He spent his early life with his family in the industrial area of Kansas where he started his schooling. He went to Kansas Grade School and later joined Junior High School in Wakefield and graduated high school from Clay Center Kansas.
After high school graduation, he enrolled for further studies at the University of Kansas where he gained a bachelor's degree in Journalism. Steve also was a radio jockey at the Student operation Radio Station F.M 90.7.
Professional Life
Steve started his professional career as a reporter and has done various shows such as Wake Up America on NBC's America Talking Channel. He was then featured as a reporter for WRC.
His major achievement in his career was joining Fox in 1996 where he co-hosted a show called Fox & Friends. Steve got a huge amount of fan base, fame, and a name from the show. Not only that, but he has also worked as a live reporter for New York Times Square.
Apart from that, Steve has authored books such as The Mr. & Mrs. Happy Handbook and Tales From The Dad Side. He along with his wife Kathy published a cookbook called Happy Cookbook: A Celebration Of The Food That Makes America Smile in the year 2018 and the couple brought back a sequel for this book in 2020 called The Simply Happy Cookbook. It was also announced as America's best-selling cooking recipe book.
Married Life With Wife And Children
Along with a successful professional career, Steve is also relishing a blissful family life with his wife and kids.
Steve Doocy married his wife Kathy Doocy, a former model and TV reporter, in June 1986. The couple tied the knot in the presence of their family and friends.
Following the first date, Steve predicted that Kathy would be his wife and eventually proposed to her on Valentine's Day.
Steve is now happily married to his wife Kathy for over 36 years and has three children together. Their children are named Peter Doocy, Mary Doocy, and Sally Doocy.
A few years back, Steve and Kathy went to check their sunglasses prescription as it was very old, and while Steve's eye was totally fine it turned out that Kathy had a freckle in her eyes. The opthalmologist then said it was nothing to worry about and to come back a few months later.
Following the doctor's advice, the couple went back a few months later when the doctor said them to go to Philadelphia immediately. The same day Steve and Kathy went to Philadelphia Wills Eye Hospital.
After examining Kathy's eye for hours the doctor diagnosed Kathy with a severe illness Ocular melanoma. It is a very rare and deadly eye cancer. The doctor then showed them a ray of hope by saying he could save Kathy's life with radiation treatment.
The couple followed the radiation treatment and it's been five years since Kathy is free from Cancer. Kathy shared her story on TV and Facebook through which many people were aware of this disease.
Steve says he is thankful for those sunglasses prescription due to which today his beloved wife is side by side with him and they are living a happy life.
Recently, his son Peter Doocy and daughter-in-law Hillary gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and he has been a happy grandfather. Peter also works at Fox News. he is a general assignment correspondent.
