Kyrie Irving was born in Melbourne, Australia on March 23, 1992. He is a registered member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and holds dual citizenship with the United States and Australia.

He grew up in New Jersey with his two sisters Asia and London and was motivated to join the NBA after visiting Continental Airlines Arena on a field trip with his class.

He lost his mother Elizabeth when he was just four and was raised by his father and aunts who became his only left parents.

Drederick, his father, played basketball in college, and Kyrie spent a lot of time in Boston, where he also went to BU's basketball skills camp. As a young man, he participated in amateur athletic union (AAU) play for the Road Runners.

Career

Kyrie has been associated with basketball since high school, so yes, his career began since then. The basketball prodigy was set to make his career.

He played for Montclair Kimberly Academy in his freshman year and scored 1000 points for the school. Feeling his career needed something more, he transferred to St. Patrick’s High School where he played with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who was a recognized player of the 2011 class.

In 2010, he was selected for the 2010 Junior National Select Team. He was also chosen to participate in the Jordan Brand Classic and the McDonald's All-American Game, where he was named co-MVP.
