The British journalist Fiona Bruce is known as the first female newsreader on BBC News at Ten.

She joined the BBC in 1989 as a researcher for Panorama and is now one of the top journalists and presenters of the network.

Fiona has been able to assemble huge success in her professional career. Along with that, she is also relishing a blissful family life with her long-time husband and children.

Who Is Fiona Bruce’s Husband?

Fiona Bruce’s husband is Nigel Sharrocks, who has had a long and successful career in the media industry.

Nigel, who is currently at the age of 62, is a non-executive chairman of Digital Cinema Media, which is an advertising agency.

Previously, he worked at Warner Bros Pictures Uk, MediaCom, and Aegis Media global.

Fiona and her husband met through work in 1989. When Fiona briefly took on a job at BMP, she met Nigel who was then working as a company director.

Family Life With Kids

Unlike Fiona, whose professional life keeps her in the spotlight, Nigel has opted to stay away from the public eye. He is happy to be in the background letting Fiona do her thing.

Likewise, their kids are also kept away from the limelight. Talking about their children, they have one son named Sam Sharrocks and a daughter named Mia Rose Sharrocks.

Sam was born in January 1998. Three years later, he was joined by his sister Mia in 2001.

When Mia was born, Fiona made headlines for a controversial reason as she returned to her work just 16 days after giving birth to her daughter.

Addressing the controversy to The Telegraph, Fiona said,

"I'm not some mad career monster. I don't want people to think I'm setting a terribly bad example here - the last thing I would advocate is women rushing back to work with a baby."

Since Fiona was busy with her work, her family had the same nanny for 20 years. During an interview with DailyMail in 2017, Fiona said,

"I know it must sound absurd but we have a nanny. Clare has been with us for 19 years. Obviously we don't need a nanny any more, but she's part of our family."

Currently, Fiona lives with her family at their home in Belsize Park, London. They also have a second home in Sydenham, Oxfordshire.
