Benjamin Hall was born on July 23, 1982. Hall was raised in London as a dual citizen, possessing both US and UK passports.
He attended Ampleforth College, City of London School, and Duke University, and earned a BA from Richmond University in London. Furthermore, he attained a postgraduate diploma in television journalism from the University of the Arts in London.

Hall sustained an injury while covering the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine on March 14, 2022. He lost the lower half of one leg, and the foot on the other leg, one eye's function was destroyed, his hearing was damaged, and he also sustained hand injuries.
