Rachel Campos was born on October 22, 1971. Her parents' names are Miguel Campos and Maria del Pilar. She was raised with her siblings- two brothers, Joseph and Patrick, and a sister, Leah.
Her parents worshiped Jesus, so they raised their children in a Catholic home.
She got a degree in economics from Seton Catholic Preparatory High School and Arizona State University, where she also won the Woodrow Wilson Graduate Fellowship.
She later went to the University of California, San Diego, and got a master's degree in international affairs. Rachel wanted to become a college professor but life had other plans for her.

Campos was a cast member of The Real World: San Francisco. At first, she kept her distance from Pedro Zamora, who had HIV, but they ended up becoming friends.
She had a romantic relationship with housemate David "Puck" Rainey and a rocky friendship with him.
After he moved out, she became best friends with his replacement, Joanna Rhodes. Campos was portrayed as a passionate Republican and Catholic, which caused problems with her liberal housemates.
