Issa Rae is an American actress, writer, producer, and director who gained prominence for her critically acclaimed web series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl. After the success of her web series, Issa went on to create and star in the HBO series Insecure.
Rae has also written a New York Times best-selling memoir and produced several other successful television shows and movies. She is known for her humour and candid portrayal of the Black experience in America.

Jo-Issa Rae Diop was born on January 12, 1985 (age 38), in Los Angeles, California, United States.
Issa was raised in a well-to-do family of seven. Her parents' names are Abdoulaye Diop and Delyna Marie Diop. She has four siblings whose names and details are unknown.
Issa’s father, Abdoulaye, who is originally from Senegal works as a pediatrician and neonatologist and currently does medical practice in Califonia.
Issa’s mother, Delyna, who is originally from Louisiana, United States, works as a teacher.

Issa Rae recently got married to her longtime boyfriend, Louis Diame.
Louis is a businessman by profession who is originally from Senegal.
He also made an appearance in a YouTube series ‘The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl’ which was directed and written by Issa Rae herself.
As reports claim, Issa and Diame got engaged in 2019 but the information wasn’t disclosed by the actress herself.
Rae was spotted wearing a diamond ring on the cover of Essence which made news believe that she had been engaged.
Two years after her engagement, Issa, via an Instagram post, shared that she and her husband, Diame were married on July 25, 2021.
Further explaining her wedding ceremony on a talk show Rae added: -
"It was just a beautiful experience. People tell you that it goes by fast, and they're right. But my thing was, it was a party. At the end of the day, it was just a big party. And it was a lot of fun. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by people who took the time out to just come and celebrate, and that's something that I'll cherish for the rest of my life."
Though the couple has kept their relationship very private, Rae’s partner often accompanies his wife to various events and shows.
