As per the wiki, his dad TJ Matthew worked in the Magazine industry back in India in the 1970s while his uncle T.J.S. George is the founder of Asiaweek Magazine.
Until age 7, Raj lived in Mumbai, India but later his family relocated to the Peninsula from India. Raj was then raised by his parents on the Peninsula.
During an interview with SFGATE, Raj revealed that he is naturally a curious person who used to ask questions to his father and mother at a point where they would ask him to shut up.
