Veteran ABC News correspondent Terry Moran was recently suspended—and now formally let go—from the network after a fiery social media post on X (formerly Twitter).
In the post, he described former President Trump and Stephen Miller as “world-class haters,” leading ABC to declare a breach of its impartial-reporting policies.
ABC confirmed his contract would not be renewed, officially ending his 28-year tenure that began in 1997.
But through all of this professional turbulence, one person has remained firmly by his side — his wife, Johanna Cox.
Who Is Johanna Cox?
A woman with an impressive background of her own, Johanna has stood as a pillar of support in Terry’s life both privately and publicly.
Johanna Cox isn’t just “the wife of a journalist.” She’s had a dynamic career of her own, starting in fashion and pivoting into national security.
Johanna first gained national attention in 2008 when she won the CW reality show Stylista, which earned her a position as a fashion columnist at Elle magazine 2008.
She left Elle after two years, pointing out to an unnamed senior person who spent most of their time undermining others. Johanna additionally said that there was “ridiculously low pay, venomous middle-school antics, and unforgiving schedule.”
Johanna is originally from Okemos, Michigan, but she currently lives in Urbana, Maryland. As for Johanna Cox’s education, she studied East Asian studies at Brown University. Johanna also enrolled at Georgetown University to study East Asian studies.
Johanna is now working as a Chinese-language linguist and intelligence analyst. Johanna has been specializing in Chinese security issues ever since her career took an academic and strategic turn.
Johanna is Terry’s second wife. Terry and Johanna got married in 2015 after he parted ways with his first wife, Karen Moran.
Together, the couple is relishing a blissful family life. Terry is often seen expressing his love for his wife through his social media posts.
For instance, Terry wished Johanna on Valentine’s Day in 2022 by sharing a selfie with her with a sweet caption.
He also wished Johanna on her birthday in March 2025, writing,

Who Are Terry Moran’s Children?
Terry Moran has three children with his wife Johanna. Terry and Johanna have two daughters named Helen Cox Moran and Mary Lou Moran, and a son named Michael Moran.
Helen was born in September 2012 and is 12 years old, as of writing. Back in September 2023, Terry shared some pictures of his child, Helen, in September 2023, wishing her a sweet caption. He wrote,
