Christiane Amanpour is a British-Iranian journalist with almost four decades of an illustrious career in journalism. She is CNN’s Chief International Anchor and the host of Amanpour.
Amanpour is also the host of a late-night global-affairs interview television program, Amanpour & Company.

Amanpour was born in a politically connected and wealthy family in the West London suburb of Ealing. Her parents’ names are Mohammad Taghi and Patricia Anne Amanpour (née Hill). Her father, who was Iranian, from Tehran, was Shi'ite Muslim and her mother was Catholic.
Mohammad was an Iranian airline executive. Their family moved to Tehran shortly after Amanpour was born. She was later sent back to England at the age of 11.

She attended Holy Cross Convent and New Hall School for her early education. Later, she enrolled at the University of Rhode Island to study journalism. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. degree in journalism from the university in 1983.
