Brian Daboll's Parents And Early Life

Born on 14 April 1975 in Welland, Canada, Brian Daboll was reared by his grandparents in a Buffalo, New York, suburb after being born in Canada.

He played football for Saint Francis High School and was teammates with Brian Polian and Dave Caldwell. He later got into the University of Rochester and played safety in football. Daboll received an economics degree at graduation.

His mother's name is Nancy Kristen and his father's name is Brian Daboll (namesake). Nancy lived in West Seneca and his dad lived across the Niagara River in Ontario.

Nancy was just a teen when she met Brian and fell in love. She got married to Brian after getting pregnant and eventually gave birth to Brian.

However, the couple got separated shortly and Brian lived with his grandparents Chris and Ruth Kirsten. They are his mom's parents who died in 2021.

Brian's father has already passed away and he doesn't know anybody in Canada.

Career Before Being Head Coach

Before NFL, the College of William & Mary hired Daboll as a restricted earnings coach in 1997. He then moved to Michigan State University as a graduate assistant under Nick Saban who was the head coach from 1998 to 1999.

At the age of 24, Brian Daboll began his NFL coaching career with the New England Patriots in 2000, working under head coach Bill Belichick. He was hired as an assistant defensive coach before being promoted to wide receivers coach in 2002. The Patriots won three Super Bowls during Daboll's initial tenure with the organization.

In 2007, Daboll took a job as the quarterbacks coach with the New York Jets, under Eric Mangini. He had previously worked with Mangini when serving in Patriots as an assistant coach from 2000 to 2005.

While working with the Jets, Daboll coached quarterbacks including Chad Pennington, Kellen Clemens, and Brett Favre. After a 9-7 season, Mangini was sacked on December 29, 2008, and Daboll was not retained by new head coach Rex Ryan.

Daboll then joined Cleveland Browns as offensive coordinator and reunited with Eric Mangini. He took the Browns to the NFL’s rank of 32 in offense in 2009 and jumped to rank 29 in 2010.

Under head coach Tony Sparano, Brian Daboll joined the Miami Dolphins in 2011 as the offensive coordinator. Under Daboll's coaching, the squad moved up in the league offensive rankings from 30th to 20th. However, the Dolphins fired Sparano on December 11, 2011, following a 4-9 season, and new head coach Joe Philbin did not retain Daboll.

Bill Muir retired in February 2012, and Brian Daboll was hired to take his place as the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs. Romeo Crennel, the head coach, was his former boss while he was with the Patriots from 2001 to 2004.

Crennel was fired after just one season since the Chiefs finished with the worst record in the league (2-14). Andy Reid was then hired as the new head coach and he did not keep Daboll.

For the remainder of the 2012–13 season, the New England Patriots rehired Brian Daboll as their head coach in January 2013. But in the AFC Championship Game, the Patriots were defeated by the Baltimore Ravens, who went on to win the Super Bowl. From 2013 to 2016, when the Patriots won two Super Bowls, Daboll went on to coach the team's tight ends, including Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Josh Allen's improvement is mostly due to Brian Daboll, who was hired as the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills in 2018. The Bills' offense substantially improved in 2020 under Daboll, as Allen established multiple passing records.

With 13 victories overall, they qualified for the AFC Championship Game for the first time since 1993. For being so great at his work, Daboll was honored with the Associated Press NFL Assistant Coach of the Year Award.

To summarise his amazing career to date, he has five Superbowl championships.
